Brittany PattersonBrittany Patterson, BS in Psychology
Brittany has been a psychometrist at the Mind and Motion Center for approximately 3 years and has a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and Sociology from Georgia State University. Her background research has been in learning and development with a focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder. When she is not administering or scoring psychological tests, she travels to other cities to run marathons, makes costumes, and runs every chance that she gets. Brittany is hoping to attend Georgia State University to pursue a degree in school psychology.

 

 

 

David CantorDavid Cantor, Ph.D., QEEG-D, BCN, Mental Health Clinical Director
Dr. Cantor received his Bachelor’s Degree with Distinction in Psychology from the University of Connecticut. His honors work was in the field of neurophysiological correlates of cross modal integration processes in attention deficit disorders. He received his Masters and Doctorates in psychology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook where his dissertation work was on quantitative EEG correlates of Autism. He also most recently received his Postdoctoral Masters of Science in Psychopharmacology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is currently licensed as a psychologist in the States of Georgia, Maryland, and Washington. Achievements in his career and awards received include but are not limited to:

 

  • Fellow status with the American College of Forensic Examiners, National Academy of Neuropsychology, and the Academy of Learning and Developmental Disorders
  • Member of the numerous professional societies and Former President of the EEG and Clinical Neuroscience Society
  • Recipient of several grants in the development of diagnostic tools and in the field of developing new therapeutic techniques with identified populations of brain dysfunction and has published articles and book chapters in these areas.
  • He has been accepted for special fellowships including Congressional Fellow of the American Psychological Association and the State of New York Intercampus Fellow in the area of Brain Research
  • Recipient of a special award from the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitative Association International (N.O.R.A.) for contributions to the field of vision and behavior.

 

Diane SykesDiane Sykes, Psy.D., Clinical Psychologist
Diane Sykes, a Clinical Psychologist enjoys working with children, adolescents and adults. While completing her degree from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, in the suburbs of Chicago, Dr. Sykes worked in a behavioral health hospital with individuals who needed help overcoming symptoms of depression, anxiety and psychosis. Often these individuals developed dysfunctional behaviors such as eating disorder, self-injury and other inappropriate behaviors. Since moving to Atlanta, she has lead social skills groups, conducted psychological testing, administered neurofeedback therapy and helped individuals improve their psychological well being as they adjusted to life situations. She is very happy to be a part of the treatment team at Mind & Motion!

 

 

Ellie SenderEllie Sender, BS in Psychology
Ellie is a Neurofeedback technician and a Certified Interactive Metronome Therapist at Mind and Motion Centers since September 2014. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs) in 2014 . While she was in school, most of her coursework centered around forensic psychology. Ellie has also been studying music for over ten years and is very interested in the intersection of music and psychology.

 

 

 

Jeter LavaughnLaVaughn Jeter, MA in Clinical Psychology
LaVaughn had been working as a clinical psychometrist at Mind and Motions for eight months. She received her M.A. in Clinical Psychology specializing in children and adolescents from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2010. She also received a M.S. in Criminal Justice specializing in criminal behavior from Tiffin University in 2012. Her particular interest is aggression and deviant behavior in youth and she hopes to work in the Juvenile Justice system in the future. Most important to her when working in mental health is to understand the perspective and experience of those she serves to better meet their needs.

 

 

 

Kara RothmannKara Rothmann, Psy.D., Clinical Psychologist
Kara Rothmann is a Clinical Psychologist who treats individuals of all ages, but specializes in child and adolescent psychology. She has worked in the mental health field since 2003 with experience in psychological assessment, group therapy, family therapy, and individual therapy. She received a B.A. in both psychology and sociology from Emory University. She then went on to receive a Psy.D. in clinical psychology from Argosy University with a concentration in child and family services. As a native to the Atlanta area, Dr. Rothmann is thrilled to be a part of the Mind & Motion family.

 

 

 

 

Brittany GriffinBrittany Griffin, Psy.D., Clinical Neuropsychologist
Dr. Griffin is a Provisional Neuropsychologist who treats individuals of all ages, but specializes in child and adolescent psychology. She has experience in neuropsychological assessment, group therapy, family therapy, and individual therapy. She completed her M.S and Psy.D. in clinical psychology from Albizu University with a concentration in neuropsychology. She also holds a M.A in Community Counseling from Argosy University. She completed her dissertation on identifying convergent and divergent neurobiological and genetic factors of autism spectrum disorders and schizophrenia. She also completed research on neuropsychological deficits in pediatric oncology patients before, during, and post treatment of chemotherapy at Staten Island University Hospital. She has received several grants for her work in community outreach and development of mental health programs in the state of Georgia.

 

 

Gianni de BenedictisGianni de Benedictis, BS in Psychology
Gianni is a Neurofeedback technician at Mind and Motion Centers. He graduated from Georgia Gwinnett College with a Bachelor’s of Psychology, concentrating in cognitive-neuropsychology as well as clinical psychology, in 2013. While obtaining his undergraduate degree he interned at the University of Georgia’s psychology department aiding in Alzheimer’s research. He is a certified Interactive Metronome therapist and is undergoing certification with the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance. Gianni believes that taking a holistic approach to treating and rehabilitating a patient is most optimal for a successful recovery.

 

 

 

Jessie NebelJessie Nebel, BS in Psychology
Jessie became a part of the Mind and Motion team in September of 2015 as a Certified Interactive Metronome Therapist and a Neurofeedback technician. Jessie graduated from the University of Georgia in 2010 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology. While attending, her focus and interest within the field became centered on social psychological coursework. Jessie’s passion for psychology is grounded in her regard for philosophy, epistemology, and her interest in understanding the complexities of human emotions.  During her free time, Jessie can be found immersed in a good novel, or using her imagination to create art.

 

 

 

Brittany AbramsBrittany Abrams, BA in Psychology
Brittany is a Certified Interactive Metronome Therapist at Mind & Motion since December 2015. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of West Georgia in 2015 and intends to pursue her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy at Brenau University. Brittany has been playing music (singing, guitar, piano) for almost 13 years and is very interested in its ability to aid an individual in healing, coping, and rehabilitating. Brittany still enjoys playing music when she can but is primarily focused on completing her studies and is extremely excited to now be a part of the Mind & Motion team!

 

 

 

Davera Cook, MA in PsychologogyDavera Cook, MA in Psychology
Davera received her Bachelors in Psychology from Spelman College and her Masters in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University. She has over ten years experience as a psychometrist with both testing and writing psychological reports. Davera’s experience includes working with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings including private practice, community mental health, DFCS and the juvenile courts. She also has interests in the areas of trauma and multicultural issues. In her spare time she enjoys reading and spending time with her family and friends.
